Why no-vig matters
If you don’t remove vig, you’re judging value using a biased price.
Sportsbooks bake juice (vig) into both sides of a market. That means the “implied probability” you see from a single line is inflated — it includes the book’s edge.
Removing vig gives you a cleaner baseline so you can:
- Compare your projection vs a fair probability
- Spot markets that are heavily shaded
- Build more accurate EV and Kelly inputs
Mini FAQ
Does no-vig guarantee value? No — it’s a baseline. You still need a real edge.
Can I use this for props? Only if you have two sides priced (over/under, yes/no).
